The British Invasion

Image
I went to the British Invasion Tour at the Regent Theatre in downtown Los Angeles yesterday night with some of my friends. The venue was small, lined with the new 2024 Triumph motorcycles. It was just the right size. The dimly lit venue was filled with excited leather-clad motorcycle enthusiasts patiently waiting for the unavailing of the TF250-x or the Daytona 660. The vibe was "rebellious, but bedtime is still close to 10 or 11pm". I got some photos and started experimenting with double exposures again. Good to see friends, good to get out into the innards of Los Angeles, good to see the passion lives even amidst the hustle of the city. All event photos can be viewed from my photography site:  monki.smugmug.com   I also saw a rat on 4th st, which, didn't offend me as much as I thought it should considering the folks living on the sidewalk. I wonder why they chose to live there. The residents served the eyes and mind a jarring juxtaposition to the type of folk who would ...

I RACED MOTOCROSS: ARX R1

I raced motocross and it was AWESOME! I raced motocross at the first round of 2024 American Retrocross, Jan 7th! I entered beginner class since it was my first race (ever) and first time on the motocross track. Earl, my neighbor who is also up to his ears in motorcycle activities, has been taking us to Gorman where we met a couple who races motocross with an organization originally created for retired racers and people 40+ who want to do motocross in a supportive and respectful environment to race. The problem was, we didn't know what we were in for. We arrived at the Arroyo Vet Track at Glen Helen Raceway on Sunday morning, to find the motocross track was wet, slightly muddy and they incorporated the big hill! Not anticipated since Earl had gone to practice on Tues...

起きてから [As soon as I woke]

Image
In between the time I last wrote, I have been still existing. Despite the wishers of my enemies, I've been quite well. I had a beautiful dream last night. I was home in Japan at a train station.お母さんとお父さんに両方私の旅の準備を助けてくれました。私とお父さんと話し、お母さんは笑顔だけで、親のよう動いて悩みを言わない。It was the first time in a long time that I'd felt like I belong somewhere and I was at the train station going to leave again. (audacious...) Even grandma and grandpa were there, how old are they now?  今朝起きてからやはり寂しいけど、夢で会えるからそんなにない。
