Neighborhood Loop

Today, I rode around the neighborhood again, my third time. I started much better than in previous times. My goal was to shift to second and third gears on the long streets and to second gear on the short streets in a smooth manner. Previously, I had been shifting awkwardly, moving my whole left foot to shift, offing my balance slightly. While not an issue at low speeds, it could turn into a very bad habit and perhaps throw me off the bike one day.  I stalled once because of my nerves. I was at a stop sign before a car and felt pressured to go, knowing I take off slow. I stalled then waved the driver to go ahead. I'll also have to work creating a good balance with the release of the clutch and application of the throttle. I am becoming more confident in my turns and applying throttle during them.

Hi and Welcome

Hi and WELCOME to my blog space. A digital space for one 🐒 on a journey to become proficient on two-wheeled machines! I started on Instagram thinking that would be a good idea. It would be if I had stunning photos with short captions. But my first IG post ended up being a few paragraphs and I still wanted to log more 🙈... I know I will enjoy the challenges ahead of me, maybe some of you reading will be on the same or a similar mission. So cheers and stay chill 🙊

Baby Squid

🙈 After a week of practice in the parking lot, I braved the neighborhood to practice basic skills. When I first started, I felt the bike was heavy, now I feel like it's light and I'm almost weightless. 🤔 Tips of the day 先生 has told me - COMMIT, once you choose to make a turn or a maneuver, follow-through - LEAN, weight into your foot and butt while gripping the tank with your knees This time in the neighborhood I had a few instances where I felt confident to add throttle in my turn post apex. While it's very simple, I feel as though I have achieved some form of progress! I still need to go back to the parking lot for more. Definitely just a baby squid 🦑 But I feel as though I am gaining confidence with the basics. My turns are getting much better, right, and left, and I am able to coast at 18 mph now. 😆 I successfully maneuvered light obstacles.... there were a lot of cars out today and people walking their dogs. I get nervous at stop signs because I am a little slow,...
