First Street Ride: To Cycle Gear!
Hello world of 45 MPH and sudden right turning drivers! Today was my first ride on the streets, out of the neighborhood and over 40 MPH. Of course, I stalled more than once and was extremely cautious should a car pull out in front of me. This time I roe with my bf who has been showing me the streets. There were more than a few challenges along our route, but overall, good ride!
We started by riding about 2 miles to Cycle Gear. The route started through neighborhoods and crossed a few major streets. There were plenty of stop signs the first bit, then once we reached the second main street, the speed picked up to 40 MPH. At this point, acceleration was less scary for me even though my maximum speed was 25 MPH. Shifting was becoming easier but not faster. I was slow to speed up, causing cars to change to the left lane to pass us. We came to one maneuver that I hadn't tried on a motobike yet, left turn, then change to the right lane to make a right turn. I turned my signal, checked my mirrors and over my shoulder then was able to change lanes smoothly. Made it to Cycle Gear! 🙈
Then we embarked on the second part of our ride, totally unplanned, to the beach! Going to the beach was an easy route with some challenges. I stalled again at a light along one of the wide main streets... then made the ride all the way home safe.
