I started a podcast!

Wednesday night was a time to start some sh*t. It was a time to send it. A time to just do the thing... whatever you want to call it. I released my first podcast episode of what I call Monki Moto Pod . I may change the name, but I want to focus on the content now. I've been wanting to do a podcast for a little while. I hadn't really been interested in creating content as a job, let alone audio or video media. The thought first crossed my mind when I was chatting with a good friend about something not totally motorcycle related but pertaining to their personal life and how they got involved with amateur road racing later in life.  The urge to create a space where different people I met though motorcycling could share their stories that I found so interesting. I started in CA on the street and met some very good friends who I still ride with, just less now because our lives got busier. Their point of view is unique and different from the friends I have made through track riding a...

In Lieu of Racing

The last few months of ARX Racing have been cancelled due to rain. Here in Southern California, it is not typical to rain heavily year to year, however, we are in one of the wettest back to back rainy seasons since 2006, according to NOAA. Each weekend, it has managed to rain enough so that the organization cancelled races at Glen Helen. April 14th was the date for the monthly race and it looked like rain, AGAIN! Luckily for the organization, one of the owners of Perris Raceway stepped in to help and offered the vet track to the organization for race day. I had hoped to race but had other callings. My aunt/cousin passed away in March to everyone's surprise. She was in her 70s and very active. Cousin Carolynn, or auntie Carolynn as I have come to know our relationship, loved deeply, lived fully, and laughed hard—she made many laugh hard too. She is one of the daughters of my grandfather's oldest brother, so it at the generational level of an auntie. Growing up, I felt like she w...

SoCal Supermoto

Image
I have a lot of blogging to catch up on.... I been out LIVIN! I took SoCal Supermoto this week for the second time. Compared to the first time, I feel that I was able to take away more than the first time. Partially, because I'd had more track days since the first time, but also, the class size was smaller and everyone seemed closer in skill level so we were able to talk about things that would help us improve rather than focus on the one guy who can't slow TF down in Little Manza! If you're not familiar with SoCal Supermoto , they area a Southern California based supermoto riding school that runs group classes every week. They provide the rental bike, the rental gear, and the knowledge. Classroom plus on track lead follow can be expected and it is overall, SUCH A GREAT TIME. Many of the people are repeat customers because it is just so dang FUN! I finally got to practice the concept of trail breaking, chirped the tires for the first time, and jumped the Monkey. Overall, I ...
